Habitat
Rest on or bury themselves in sand, sometimes with only head visible; also rest on reef tops.
Range
Common Caribbean; occasional Florida, Bahamas; also north to North Carolina, Gulf of Mexico and south to Brazil. Most common lizardfish in Caribbean.

Apparently relying on camouflage, they do not move unless closely approached.
